Dr. Eisenhuth Promotes Oral Hygiene for National Children’s Dental Health Month
EAGAN AND MENDOTA HEIGHTS, MINNESOTA – February is National Children’s Dental Health Month and Mendota Heights Orthodontics expert Dr. Jennifer Eisenhuth is spending the month promoting good oral hygiene to our patients and local students.
For the past 15 years, Dr. Eisenhuth- a Mendota Heights braces expert- and her staff have visited organizations and schools to discuss the importance of oral health. This year, she and the staff at her Eagan and Mendota Heights orthodontics practice will hand out toothbrushes, dental floss and toothpaste, and focus on topics that promote good oral hygiene:
- When it comes to carbonated, sugary drinks, if you MUST drink them, don’t sip- drink them and then brush your teeth.
- Snack wisely. Select healthy snacks: cheese, fruits and vegetables. Avoid sticky, chewy candies that can stick to your teeth. If you eat these snacks, brush afterward.
- Don’t use tobacco products. Avoid pressure to try them because they can be detrimental to oral and overall health.
- Teeth brushing techniques. It takes two minutes to properly brush using short, gentle strokes Don’t forget to brush your tongue and along the gumline.
- Flossing. Hold the floss snugly between thumbs and index finger and insert between each tooth, making sure to go beneath the gumline and curving the floss around the base of teeth.
- Routine dental visits. Go for professional check-ups and teeth cleaning appointments every six months, or as recommended by your dentist, said Eisenhuth, a Mendota Heights Incognito braces professional.
National Children’s Dental Health Month has been observed since 1949. Its messages and materials have reached millions of people in communities across the country since then, according to the ADA website.
“It’s important for children to develop healthy habits at an early age to set the stage for a lifetime of healthy teeth and gums,” said Eisenhuth, a Mendota Heights invisible braces provider. “National Children’s Dental Health Month is a great opportunity for us to help make that happen.”
